The cross-section of light
The cross-section of light is a media art installation that deconstructs the familiar linearity of laser light
and reveals the hidden structure and cross-sectional form of light itself.
By interrupting the forward path of a laser beam with an OLED screen,
the work transforms the beam into a visible, projectable surface—
turning light from an invisible trajectory into a spatial, sculptural presence.
Onto this newly revealed plane, geometric forms and graphic elements are arranged,
and through the technique of anamorphic illusion,
they distort and reassemble depending on the viewer’s perspective—
allowing the audience to experience a shifting, volumetric illusion shaped by light.
This work is not merely about extending vision,
but about giving spatiality and materiality to light itself.
The viewer enters a perceptual space between what is seen and what was once invisible—
where light is no longer just illumination,
but a medium of form, memory, and presence.
